Welcome to the new school year in Class One.
It has been a pleasure to meet our new starters in the EYFS unit this week, and to welcome back our 'old timers' as they settle into their new roles as 'Blue Tops' and senior 'Red Tops'!
We are starting the year with our topic about 'Bears'...giving us many opportunities to share stories and experiences, develop our number through counting and sorting and to find out about real bears in our world.
As with every year, we are hoping that the children will take us on a journey of discovery as they suggest topics based upon their own interests.
'Show and Tell' will be on Thursdays, so if the children wish to bring something in to share, they are very welcome (nothing too valuable, fragile or alive, please!) We will also change library books on Thursdays too.
PE will be on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.
We have had a fabulous start to the term, the children have settled magnificently. Please remember that we are available before and after school for a chat if you have any concerns.
Jolly Phonics Scheme
Class 1 use the "Jolly Phonics" scheme to learn letter sounds, leading to reading and writing. Have a look at the video below, which provides information about what each letter actually sounds like, and how to learn it using an associated action.
