Nursery & Reception

Happy New Year and a special welcome to our 8 new 'Red Tops'. We are sure that they will soon settle in and enjoy becoming members of the St Martin's family.
Our first topic for the term is 'Sleeping Beauty', and we have already enjoyed playing in the castle, experiencing 'fairy dust' and using the construction equipment to build castles of our own. We hope that our subsequent topics will be inspired by the interests and ideas of the children.
'Show and Tell' continues on Thursdays, when we will also change library books. PE will also continue to be on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings (although this may change occasionally if the hall is unavailable.)
We will be indoors this term, so the children will just need shorts and a t-shirt.
Please remember that we are available before and after school for a chat if you have any concerns.

Jolly Phonics Scheme

Class 1 use the "Jolly Phonics" scheme to learn letter sounds, leading to reading and writing. Have a look at the video below, which provides information about what each letter actually sounds like, and how to learn it using an associated action.
