Excellence through Effort

Outlined below are our school's aims and general ethos:

  School Ethos
.
AIMS / Ethos

Our overall aims are:

• St. Martin’s is a Church school and teaches the Anglican principles on which
the whole school ethos is based.

• We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, taught in a way which all children
whatever their ability or aptitude, will find relevant, interesting and
challenging;

• We provide a caring and protective environment in which all children have the
opportunity to develop confidence and experience success;

• We set high standards for work and behaviour for all our pupils;

• We foster motivation and interest for all our children so that they can lead
satisfying and enjoyable lives;

• We promote in all children a responsible and caring attitude to others, which is
informed by Christian belief.

  The Curriculum
  Ten subjects are compulsory under National Curriculum requirements: English, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Design and Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education and Religious Education. All have their own prescribed content. Citizenship and Personal, Social and Health Education are covered throughout the school, through an integrated curriculum approach.

The Governing Body agrees that the school will follow the aims and objectives as set
out in the “East Riding of Yorkshire School Curriculum Statement.” In addition the
school has its own “Mission Statement” and list of agreed school aims. We believe in a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, differentiated to meet the needs of individual pupils.
